Ducati Club Malaysia Riding Clinic

DCM or Ducati Club Malaysia kicks off their first event, in particular their first riding clinic at Sepang International Circuit on the 19th April 2010. Previously the club presence was only on an “un-official” status as it was merely a gathering of Ducati’s owners. But now with the club being registered and with a team of dedicated committe members, the club is looking bright with loads of interesting events being lined up for this year.

The clinic was held on a hot Monday afternoon, and being the start of the week, there were not many Duc owners who turned up. But that was actually a blessings, well at least to those that turned up as the coaching was more personal and the instructors are able to monitor them closely.

The instructors of that day were none other than our local MSS superbikes champions in the name of Ahmad Zamani and Lee Ching Hooi or more widely known as “Panjang” in the racing fraternity. Although they came quite well prepared in terms of tools and equipments to have the members bikes checked before hitting the track, the theory part was a bit slagging. All 8 members who came with their Monsters (3 units), Multistrada, 916, Streetfighter, 1098, and 999 were new to Sepang track. They would have been better brief in terms of track rules and regulations, what individual flag colors stands for, riding vision, proper throttle and clutch control into and out of corners, etc. The video cam that was fitted on the instructor’s bike was also not fully utilised as it only shows short snippets of the members riding on the track and was not de-briefed upon after their practical sessions. But being newbies in Sepang circuit, they did take back some valuable lessons from the clinic.

The “treat” of the day was of course the “appearance” of Desmosedici, a bike costing over RM600,000.00 here and was riden by Ahmad Zamani. There were close bonding amongst the members that day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their first outing on a full track without the usual “traffic”.

DCM has over 40 members so far and for those who bought a new Ducati from Naza this year, they will automatically get to join DCM for free. With the club re-launch party and Asia’s Ducati owners meet coming up, what are all you Duc owners or potential owners waiting for?
