A technical briefing was held by the sole Jaguar distributor in Malaysia, at their spanking show room in Pavillion K.L on the 19th August 2008.
The Technical briefing was to highlight some of the key features of their latest XF models which consists of 3 variants, namely the 3.0 V6 Luxury, 4.2 V8 and the 4.2 V8 SC (super charged). With prices ranging from RM488, 888 to RM728, 888.
The 3.0 litre version comes standard with electronic rear blind, 10 ways adjustable memory seat, rear parking camera, front parking sensors, i-pod connection and a awesome 19” rims with a “growler’ at its centre piece.
The legendary leaping jag on its front bonnet has been placed to its rear hood and instead the “Growler” has been placed on the centre of it blinking front grille.
This is the first time the Jaguar engineering team is working around the design team instead of vice versa. But that does not sacrifice any of its safety or performance features. For instance the XF has a deployable bonnet where pedestrian safety is taken into account and the bonnet will lift upon impact to “cushion” the pedestrian. Other than that the XF comes with 10 air bags, DSC (Dynamic Stability Control), EBA (Emergency Brake Assist), EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution), ABS, Traction Control, CBC (Cornering Brake Control), Anti-Whiplash Protection System and many more.
The 3.0 V6 has 238 horses under its curvaceous hood and it’s noted to hit the century run at 8.3 Sec. Those who are tired of the auto drive can switch to its manual sports mode with a twist of its cylindrical drive control to “S” and take it from the paddle shift located behind it beautifully crafted double stitched leather steering.
The front dash is covered with a mix of aluminium, Blurr walnut and double stitched leather finishes which really add to a very classy feel once you’re inside the car. The sound system is from the renowned Bowlers & Wilkins and has a 6 discs in-dash CD changer with VMA, DAB and MP3 compatibility. The 7” touch screen on the centre console practically controls much of the car settings from climate control, audio, valet control, Bluetooth, phone and T.V.
The Jaguar XF design is focused on Durability and Dynamics with much of its “DNA” being derived from the sleek sporty XK model. However the design team did a great job in creating a contemporary, luxurious sports saloon.
