Nabil outmaneuvers contenders to win JKRAS Race 1 at Sepang.
09 April 2011, Kuala Lumpur:- PETRONAS MOFAZ Racing and its lineup of 4 new drivers for 2011, Nabil Jeffri, Hiqmar Danial, Irfan Ilyas and Freddie Ang faces its first race weekend together in the Formula JK Racing Asia Series 2011, which has indeed proven to be very challenging indeed.
Nevertheless, Nabil Jeffri (car #7) overcame challenges from his closest contenders during Qualifying yesterday to emerge as first podium winner for Race 1, after making a classic move in the Turn 1 at Sepang, holding a clean lead from start to finish for 10 laps, and finishing the race 1.890 secs away from Afiq Yazid.
His team-mates Hiqmar Danial (car #8), Irfan Ilyas (car #5) and Freddie Ang (car #6) made their debut today in their first race in an official championship, and as rookies fared reasonably well across the board. Hiqmar finished in his first race in 6th position overall and 2nd in the Rookie Cup, while Irfan and Freddie both finished the race in 11th and 14th position overall, from a grid that was formed of 18 cars featuring 8 senior drivers, 3 guest drivers and 7 rookie drivers including themselves.
PETRONAS MOFAZ Racing and its drivers look forward to bettering their overall position in Race 2, and has set its sights determinedly on accomplishing more podiums towards the title and drivers championships this year, against more senior drivers and vastly-experienced teams.
